Elevate Your Backyard Space on a Budget!

Elevate Your Backyard Space on a Budget!

Summer is upon us and if you're the average Socal gal, you intend on soaking up every moment of it! That's why creating an outdoor space that is both beautiful and budget friendly is at the top of our "to-do" list! Creating an outdoor oasis doesn't have to break the bank - we gathered some great finds and quick tips to help you get your rear into gear for a relaxing summer right in your backyard!

1. Plan and prioritize: Before diving in, make a plan for your backyard. Decide what features are most important to you and allocate your budget accordingly. This will help you focus on what matters most and avoid overspending on unnecessary items.

2. Start with cleanup and maintenance: Sometimes, all a backyard needs to look better is a good cleanup. Remove any debris, trim overgrown plants, and mow the lawn. These simple steps can make a big difference in the appearance of your backyard.

3. DIY projects: Consider refurbishing your old worn out patio furniture with a quick sand and paint. We love these easy-to-use sanding blocks from amazon. Give that old wood a quick scrub down and facelift with an outdoor friendly paint and primer. We love this all-in-one paint for any outdoor project. We refurbished our patio furniture using this paint and it's holding beautifully a year and a half later!

4. Shop smart: Look for sales, clearance items, and second-hand options when shopping for outdoor furniture, decor, and planters. Websites, thrift stores, and online marketplaces like Offer up can be great places to find affordable outdoor items. We found this awesome outdoor area rug for only $80! Total steal!!

5. Focus on low to no-maintenance landscaping: Choose plants that are easy to care for and require minimal watering and maintenance. Native plants are often a good choice, however, don't rule out faux plants like these 19" ball trees. Throw these beauties into large ceramic pots and wa-la, you have some easy-peasy greenery!! Some of the faux plants out there are unbelievably realistic AND no maintenance required (double win)!

6. Add lighting: Outdoor lighting can create ambiance and extend the usability of your backyard into the evening. These Outdoor Globe Edison lights are my personal favorite - they've withheld like champs through SoCal's last 2 rain storms (dramatic, I know!) so we know these offer great quality at a great price! Placing a few floor lanterns around your seating or dining area can add charm and luxury. These simple metal lanterns are a stellar deal and go with any theme!

7. Repurpose and upcycle: As I mentioned in bullet 1, refurbish, refurbish, refurbish! You'd be shocked what a little elbow grease and paint can do to an old treasure! Get creative with items you already have or can find inexpensively. Mason jars can become candle holders, wooden pallets can be transformed into furniture, old pillows can be stuffed into new pillow covers like these resort style throw pillows for $13.99....!!

There ya have it, Folks! By implementing these tips and getting creative with what you have, you can create a beautiful backyard retreat this summer without breaking the bank. There are plenty of great deals out there, you just need to snag them up! Happy hunting and HAPPY SUMMER everyone!
